Ever Have One of Those Days...

...where your mind is focused on two completely unrelated things?  And both are making you goofy like a little girl with ADD when you need to actually do your weekly TPS report?

Today is one of those days.  I am lucky if I can even form coherent sentences at times.

Because life isn't stressful enough.

With the encouragement of many a friend, and with the help of a secret romance adviser, I have updated my online dating profile and have responded to a few other profiles.

For your viewing pleasure, and as a believer in the best people you meet are the ones your friends, co-workers, and random internet strangers know, my profile in it's majority is below the fold.

If you're going to buy a truck...

...you gotta get the right bumpersticker.

Thanks Betsy...

Five songs I listen to a lot according to iTunes:

Secret Machines - Nowhere Again
Secret Machines - Sad and Lonely
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done
Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot
Head Automatica - Brooklyn is Burning

Five Songs that have been the most played in the last few days:

U2 - Mothers of the Disappeared
Garbage - No. 1 Crush
Nine Inch Nails - Only
Cake - Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps
The Killers - All These Things That I've Done

Five Four fabulous people I'm passing this on to (since I have few friends who blog that aren't already doing this):

Jenn
Cindy
Tamar
J.D.

Just what I need.

I have an important work appointment tomorrow that could mean very good things, yet here I sit, running a 101° fever with an ear infection and coughing up seriously nasty looking stuff.

So think healthful thoughts for me, especially around 1 tomorrow.

Literature

A phrase stood out from a book I am (re)reading:

He can just imagine the crisp luscious sound of the woman's soft white skin forcing itself into the confining black rubber.

Interesting sentence considering the rest of book.

Distractions.

Needing some distractions from some serious looming issues in my life, here are a few of the things I have done.
- Used the Spanish prompts instead of the English prompts on the Fred Meyer U-Scan.
- Decided that if my life needed a narrator, Keith Jackson would be the only choice.
- Scrub the bath tub.  I know I am focusing too much on other things when I need to scrub the bath tub.
- Spent two hours organizing my dresser drawers.
- Created five new playlists for my iPod.

Hopefully this will all be over in a few weeks.

Finally something that makes me laugh today.

I am the number one site on Google for cruel revenge.  Be afraid of me!

Reason No. 98,465,198 Why I Love My Parents

Mom and Dad, freshly returned from their three month road trip, decide the thing they need to do upon returning home is an overnighter to Seattle to see the Mariners game.

All is well until Dad calls a little while ago (during the game) with a little story.

Mom and Dad are sitting in the 300 level behind home plate.  Dad sees a foul ball heading their way.  He thinks, "Souvenir!", reaches for the ball and misses.  Not only does he miss, but he misses bad enough to let the ball hit him on the head.  And if that's not bad enough, it ricochets and then hits Mom in the head.  Two for the price of one evidently.

When asked if they are alright, his response? "Well, Mom has a headache now".

I love my parents.

A danger to motorists and pedestrians alike.

I can see.  Sorta.

From my new hand-dandy card (image soon maybe) I got on my next day follow-up, I no longer require corrective lenses when I drive.  Yet, I cannot read the road signs.  Evidently, the government thinks this is acceptable for a vision requirement.  Go figure.

My vision comes and goes depending on the relative fluid level of my tears.  I have a lot of dry eye problems currently and when I take my drops, I can see great for about 20 seconds and then it gets blurry again once I blink.  The doctor said 2-3 weeks for the full effect but all along they told me I might need a second procedure due to my horrific vision.

So the score is I went from 20/they-don't-make-a-calculator-that-computes-that-high (or 20/20,000 as their best guess) to 20/40.  He said he thinks I'll eventually get to a 20/15 (where I was with glasses).

The day after felt like I had a combination of sand and vaseline in my eye, now it's just goopy stuff from all the drops.

Finally, would I do it again?  At this point yes.
